Child Welfare
Our child welfare clients provide care in some of the most difficult situations in life. As a result of our team’s extensive experience in these areas, we understand the significant risks involved in providing direct services to people in need in the areas of child welfare, juvenile justice, and behavioral health.
We serve as outside general counsel to a number of large operating charities in this space. In addition, we help charities implement legal structures that mitigate the risk of claims that exceed insurance thresholds, including by moving endowments and restricted charitable funds into a newly formed entity that is separate from the operating entity. Clients rely on us for mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, and reorganizations, as well as dealing with the Pennsylvania Attorney General and compliance with restrictions on lobbying and advocacy applicable to 501(c)(3) charities.
