Representative Matters:
-
Successfully sought IRS reclassification of an organization that had been classified as a private foundation for 80+ years to a “supporting organization” public charity, allowing the organization to significantly increase its fundraising.
-
Counseled client and drafted documents for a 501(c)(7) social club, whose tax-exempt status had been revoked, to “spin off” its investment fund into a charitable 501(c)(3) affiliate and subsequently obtained retroactive reinstatement of the 501(c)(7) organization’s tax-exempt status.
-
Researched and drafted an Advocacy Policy for a private foundation to maximize its advocacy efforts in light of strict IRS lobbying and political activity rules for private foundations.
-
Managed due diligence for multiple illiquid gifts to a large donor-advised fund.
